4kW Solar Power and Battery Backup Management

The Max Power Suntronic PV 5500 Ultra combines 4000VA/4000W rated output, pure sine wave power and an integrated MPPT solar charger for homes, offices and appropriately sized small business installations. Pair it with a compatible 24V battery bank and suitable solar array to manage solar energy and support selected loads during outages.

AC Input Specifications

  • Rated output power: 4000VA / 4000W
  • AC input voltage range for computers: 170–280VAC
  • AC input voltage range for home appliances: 90–280VAC
  • Input frequency: 50Hz / 60Hz, auto-sensing

Output Specifications

  • Waveform: pure sine wave
  • Output voltage regulation: 230VAC ±10%
  • Surge power: 8000VA
  • Peak efficiency: up to 93%
  • Transfer time for PCs: 10ms, supplied specification
  • Transfer time for home appliances: 20ms, supplied specification

The 8000VA surge figure is not a continuous output rating. Surge duration and supported load starting requirements must be checked in the manufacturer's datasheet. Transfer times are non-zero and do not guarantee uninterrupted operation of every sensitive device.

Battery and Charging Specifications

  • Battery system voltage: 24VDC
  • Floating charge voltage: 27V
  • Overcharge protection voltage: 33V
  • Maximum solar charging current: 120A
  • Maximum AC charging current: 100A

Solar and AC charging currents are separate maximum ratings and should not be added together to assume a combined charging limit. Battery chemistry compatibility, charging settings and supported current must be confirmed for the selected battery bank.

MPPT Solar Input Specifications

  • Maximum PV array power: 5600W
  • MPPT operating range: 60–450VDC
  • Maximum PV input current: 40A

The PV 5500 Ultra model name does not indicate 5.5kW continuous output. Its supplied rated output is 4kW, while supported PV array power is up to 5.6kW. The MPPT operating range is not a substitute for the maximum permitted PV open-circuit voltage; verify that limit and cold-weather string voltage before connecting panels.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is this inverter used for?
It manages solar generation, compatible battery storage and AC charging to power appropriately sized home or small business loads.

Does it support battery storage?
Yes, it uses a compatible 24VDC battery system. Batteries are not stated as included. Confirm battery chemistry, charge settings and installation requirements before purchase.

Can it provide power during load shedding?
A correctly configured battery system can support selected loads during outages. Runtime depends on usable battery capacity and connected loads. The supplied transfer times are 10ms for PCs and 20ms for home appliances, not zero-transfer guarantees.

Is it suitable for residential solar systems?
It can suit loads within its 4kW rated output and applicable surge limits. Your installer should assess appliance starting currents and size the solar array and battery bank accordingly.

How can it help reduce grid consumption?
Solar generation and stored energy can offset some grid use. Savings depend on solar yield, energy demand, tariffs and system settings; no fixed savings figure is guaranteed.

Installation Notes

Professional installation is recommended. Verify the exact model datasheet for PV open-circuit voltage limits, combined charging limits, supported battery types, surge duration, protection and ventilation requirements. Do not assume grid-export or net-metering capability from solar and AC charging support alone.
